On March 30th, 2023, the theme concert “Diversity and Democracy?” will be held at 7 PM at the Brainlab headquarters in Munich. The concert series is a cooperation between the Max-Planck Society and the Bayerische Staatsoper. The performance features a speech from Professor Marie-Claire Foblets, director at the Max Planck Institute for Ethnological Research in Halle (Saale) addressing the question, “Does diversity threaten our democracy?”. Providing musical accompaniment, composer Toshio Hosokawa will stage his pieces “A song from far away” and “The Raven”, based on Edgar Allan Poe’s poem of the same name.

Science meets art in this series of concerts presented by the Bayerische Staatsoper in March 2023. Scientists from different disciplines will consider and discuss the themes of “Songs of War and Love” and “Waiting and Expecting”. They will be accompanied by the music of composer Toshio Hosokawa, whose opera “Hanjo” will be performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper in May.

The concert series thematically pave the way for the “Ja, Mai” festival in May 2023, of which Brainlab is the main sponsor.
