As a working student at Brainlab, you lay the foundation for your future career. By taking on a wide range of tasks in various subject areas, you will build up a comprehensive portfolio and gain valuable experience for your later professional life. At Brainlab, you can take on your own small projects and work independently within a team.

Study opportunities

Internship

You’ll support your team full-time (40 hours a week) with specific projects and benefit from the knowledge of your colleagues to advance your own development during your studies. An internship at Brainlab lasts 3 to 6 months.

Working Student

You’ll support your team with projects on a part-time basis (up to 20 hours a week, up to 40 hours during semester breaks) while you learn from their knowledge and experience. Working student opportunities last for 6 months but may be extended up until the end of your studies.

Dual Student

On a part-time basis (up to 20 hours a week, up to 40 hours during semester breaks), you’ll support the team by working independently on projects. You’ll benefit from the expertise of your teammates in order to further your educational goals. Dual student positions last 18 months and we’ll pay your study fees and offer you a minimum one year position after graduation.

How we hire

Generally speaking, the process can involve a discovery call, video interview and/or personal interview and further assessment rounds to determine that you’re the right fit at Brainlab.

1. Submit application

2. Discovery call

As a first step, we’ll have a telephone interview. This call is a chance to discover a little more about you and clarify any open questions you may have. If it’s a success, we’ll get back to you about next steps within two weeks.

3. Assessment Round

If the role requires specific technical skills, you’ll likely to be invited to an assessment round before or after the discovery call. Depending on the position, you may be asked to complete specific tasks to test your skill.

4. Face-to-face Interview

If you’ve done well in the previous rounds, it’s time for a personal or video interview. We’ll ask you competency-based and technical questions, if applicable, and answer any queries you have about the role and company.

5. Leadership Interview

Depending on the role, you may also be asked to join an interview with our leadership, like a member of our General Management team.

In which language will the interview take place?

German or English, depending on what's more comfortable for you.

How long is the interview?

The first is about 30 to 45 minutes and the second is about an hour.

How far in advance should I apply?

Apply when an interesting job ad is posted by us and you can estimate your possible start date.

Are there any additional benefits for being a dual student?

We will pay your study fees and offer you a one year contract after graduation. If it is going well, then of course there\u2019s a possibility for a permanent contract.

Is it possible to write a final thesis at Brainlab?

Yes it is, but we would recommend starting with us as an intern or working student.

How long are student positions at Brainlab?

Internships are 3 to 6 months, working student positions are 6 months to the end of your studies and dual student positions are 18 months, the duration of your Master's program.

What requirements are there for a student position?

You need to be enrolled in a university program and have German health insurance.
