This course is a three-day classroom training designed for clinicians pursuing full proficiency with Brainlab radiosurgery treatment planning systems. The sessions are hosted at the state-of-the-art training centers in the Brainlab headquarters in Munich, Germany.
This meeting has applied to CAMPEP for approval of 20 MPCEC hours.
Target Audience
The Brainlab Academy: Essential Course Radiosurgery is tailored primarily to a team of 2 to 3 attendees from each site. The team could consist of a medical physicist, radiation oncologist, neurosurgeon, and ideally, they would attend the course together. All other clinicians involved in stereotactic radiosurgery or stereotactic body radiotherapy treatments seeking deep insights into target definition and treatment planning are very welcome to attend.

Prerequisites
Beam data measurements and creation of the machine profiles should be completed for the participant’s hospital in advance, for example, by attending the Brainlab Academy: Preparation Course Radiosurgery – Physics and QA.

Objectives
The Brainlab Academy: Essential Course Radiosurgery is designed for clinicians pursuing full proficiency with Brainlab radiosurgery treatment planning systems. This three-day classroom course presents the concepts of stereotactic radiosurgery utilizing the Brainlab RT Elements portfolio. The goal of this course is to enable the clinical utilization of Brainlab Elements to generate expert radiosurgery treatment plans.

Format
Hands-on treatment planning sessions facilitated by skilled Brainlab instructors covering the details of all dedicated software workflows available in order to produce radiosurgery treatment plans. Numerous clinical case examples will be used to demonstrate and explore dedicated radiosurgery treatment planning for several indications
Lecture by an experienced clinical guest speaker covering details of clinical prescriptions, patient positioning and monitoring, as well as patient outcomes for a range of typical stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic radiotherapy indications
Subject matter expert from Brainlab R&D team will provide insights into the underlying optimization algorithms and detailed functionalities of the software
Tuition, certificate of attendance, course materials and supplies, including applicable supplemental materials, return travel, accommodation (max. of 4 nights), participation in a social evening and meals are outlined in the course agenda

Where to stay
FAQ
What is the official language of the course?
English is the official language for all Brainlab Academy courses. Once a year we hold an “Essential Course Radiosurgery” in French and German.
Will lunch be served?
Yes, lunch will be available at our award-winning Brainlab restaurant. The restaurant incorporates market-fresh produce delivered daily to create delicious dishes prepared onsite. This will be available to all participants of the classroom training. Please note that lunch is not included during the first day of the course. Participants will also only be offered dinner during the group dinner event, so they should make individual dinner plans for other evenings accordingly.
How can I get to Brainlab HQ from the airport?
Brainlab offers personal shuttle services directly to our headquarters. It is also possible to take public transportation which takes around 50-60 minutes.

Will I get a certificate of attendance after course completion?
Yes, you will receive a certificate following the completion of the course.
Can I bring a partner or family?
Due to compliance reasons, Brainlab can not cover any travel or accommodation costs for additional external guests. However, it is possible to bring a partner/family member and cover these costs privately. In this case, we would support by contacting the hotel to inquire about an upgrade to a double room. Travel arrangements must be organized independently.
