Brainlab Elements Stereotaxy is a highly capable, versatile and reliable platform. I use it in stereotactic surgery for preoperative planning, intraoperative targeting and postoperative verification. Elements has equally proven to be a powerful tool in conducting research and in troubleshooting deep brain stimulation.

Accuracy in image fusion

Take full control of co-registration with Elements Image Fusion and Elements Distortion Correction Cranial.

This application returns fast, automatic, accurate co-registration between image modalities. It further enables users to co-register by regions of interest and customized fusion order selection.

In parallel, users can access Elements Distortion Correction Cranial for the correction of MRI distortion with powerful elastic fusion software, which can significantly improve the accuracy of tractography.

Patient anatomy segmentation

Let patient-specific segmentation power the entire workflow with Elements Segmentation Basal Ganglia, Elements Segmentation Cranial and Elements Object Management1.

This application automatically generates accurate and patient-specific anatomy. By factoring in multiple datasets from each individual patient and leveraging the voxel-based tissue classification feature from the Brainlab Universal Atlas, users can account for variability, asymmetry and anomalies in patient anatomy.

Users can also apply fine adjustment to the segmented anatomy through powerful tools like the SmartShaper TM.

After user validation, anatomical objects can be used as input for clinical targeting, DTI fibertracking, image-guided programming and more.

Fibertracking

White matter tracts can either be a target region or regions to be avoided during functional neurosurgery procedures.

Elements Fibertracking enables the creation of patient fiber streamlines from diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) studies, which can be visualized in 3D and 2D to guide trajectory planning.

Utilizing both probabilistic1 and deterministic tracking algorithms, the software seamlessly integrates state-of-the-art technology with a well-established and proven methodology to increase reliability and reproducibility of white matter tracking. Built-in and user-customizable templates also allow for the automated and consistent creation of fiber tracts across patients.

Trajectory planning

Bring it together – add Elements Trajectory Planning Cranial and Elements Stereotaxy for a customizable planning solution.

Whether you plan targets based on consensus coordinates, direct anatomical observation or patient anatomy segmentation and fibertracking, this application empowers users through advanced 2D and 3D visualization, flexible 3D lead and electrode modeling as well as intuitive measurement tools.

Post-operative accuracy verification

Gain intra- and post-operative feedback on lead and electrode contact positioning through automatic lead detection with Elements Lead Localization.

This application automatically identifies the implant position in a postoperative CT scan and allows the overlay of implants on patient anatomy. For users of Boston Scientific Cartesia TM Directional Leads, it automatically estimates the lead orientation.
