Breast cancer is the most common cancer worldwide and disproportionately affects individuals in low- and middle-income households. In 2020, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer and 685,000 deaths globally (WHO 2021).

From the 1930s through the 1970s, there was little change in mortality rates. However, an improvement began in the 1980s in countries where early detection programs were established in combination with various treatment methods.

To contribute to this positive development, Brainlab is continuously working on technologies that improve cancer treatment options. In recent years, Brainlab has further developed its approach to high-precision radiotherapy with ExacTrac Dynamic®. This product offers submillimetric thermal-surface and fast, low-dose X-Ray tracking, promoting accurate monitoring and enabling greater precision and true dose sparing for critical structures. For breast cancer, in particular, the ExacTrac Dynamic® Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH)* workflow helps doctors position and monitor breast cancer patients to support high-quality care.
